Eidolon
figment of the imagination

Eidolon
nounLITERARY
1.
an idealized person or thing.
2.
a spectre or phantom.
Eidolon is part of the PARADOX project and has the theme of solitude and isolation as thematic points of contact with it. In this small fiction, the isolation at home for long periods of time meant that the character (whose point of view is shown to us) spent a lot of time alone with his dog. As the dogs are known as good companions, the video explores the way in which this “company” happens, capturing moments of intimacy and true communication between the two. The animal’s almost human look, allied to the long period of isolation from the outside, causes the character “flashes” or slightly disturbing hallucinations in which we see a fictitious reality where your pet becomes a person. From a technical point of view, a relatively slow pace is maintained, to mimic this time of boredom at home, in which it is suddenly fascinating to observe all the movements of the other single living element that is found there. The video has, for the most part, only the sound of the real and silent environment of the empty house, interspersed with the familiar hammering of the dog’s nails on the floor.
